After 5x me disconnecting and reconnecting over a period of 15 mins, my IP address stays the same? Have I missed something?

yes you have, you see, the tower assigns your ip address, but if no one connects inbetween you disconnecting/reconnecting to a tower, the chances of you getting assigned the same ip address again is very high.

Help save the bandwidth. Decent download speeds for TheRodent! Stop downloading now!!!

Well, some of us believe it is a policy. If the addresses were randomised, you would assume that the pool would be large enough that over 5 disconnects/reconnects you would get a maximum of 2 overlaps or reused addresses. It would be good practice as well to have a "cool-off" period so that UDP packets from P2P apps for example, dont land up congesting th new IP address user's PC.

The same ip address issue may also have something to do with the authentication server (radius server). It keeps a record of your last connect and if possibly tries to assign the same address. It actually would also make routing tables etc easier to maintain so this makes good technical sense.

Just wish that anthing to do with Sintech's bandwidth made any sense... It used to be that one could let off steam on the site - even that doesn't seem to help anymore... Time to kill some orc.
