Ok, I have a slight question about this ip address thingy.

Sentech claims that they try to give you the same ip address if you disconnect and reconnect.

But I dont think they are trying to do anything.
If I disconnect, and reconnect. I get a new IP Address.
But I assume the old ip address of about 2 minutes ago is not in use, because I cannot ping it. This to me says, they eiher got ripped off with the software they are using, or they are not doing it.

And in the case of them not doing it, I believe on theire web-site they do say they will try to allocate you the same IP Address.

Anyone any tech or non related info ? :)

And aliens landed on mars last night

dont believe everything sentech tells you, or what you read

IP addresses is dynamic, unless you have a linux box for a router and it is up 24/7 without the tower disconnecting you or power going down

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Youre not the only one that's been on this forum long enough to know not to believe everything sentech is saying.

Anyways from their site FAQ

Am I allocated a static IP address when I subscribe to the MyWireless service?
No. Although the service will endeavour to assign the same IP address every time you connect to the MyWireless service this is not guaranteed. Therefore it is important to note that the MyWireless service supports dynamic IP allocation and does not recommend the use of applications specifically requiring static IP addressing on the consumer MyWireless packages.

Has anyone (no not noone) ever received the same IP?

HAHA :) Man support rocks...

Following is e-mail to support... the answer is brilliant.

Hi, I’ve been wondering about something, and I’m hoping someone from sentech can give me a constructive answer.
Please do insult me with a bad reply, as this is a straightforward question.

On the site FAQ for MyWireless it says the following

But from my experience, If I get disconnected for 2 minutes, and when I reconnect, I have a different IP Address. And the other IP Address is not in use (I am assuming that because I cannot ping it).

To me this is saying, that the system is not at all ‘endeavouring’ to connect you back on the same IP Address.

I know you say that you do not guarantee the same IP Address, which I can understand, but it’s also said that the service will endeavour.

Is your system truly trying to attempt to give the same IP Address to the user? I understand there is no static ip addresses. But if I am on a remote location, and my connection is dropped, and something goes wrong on my server and my dynamic dns is not updated correctly, I have no way to connect to my server. So it’s imperative to me that the IP Addresses are at least attempted to stay the same. But from quite a couple of tests, I have never received the same IP Address, and it’s not because the old IP Address is in use, so to me this says that nothing is being done. Which goes against what you have said.

Will this issue be looked at in the future to try and improve it so there is more chance of receiving the same IP Address?

Thank you.

And now *drum roll* the reply...

Hi, It seems you forgot to read my e-mail.
Can you please read it again, and then decide if your answer was at all appropriate.
If you actually read past the second line, you would have noticed this

You just went and gave an answer to the wrong question. I'm sorry if you were reading someone else e-mail and accidentally replied in the wrong window. But if this is not the case
I recommend that you re-read the e-mail. Your answer had absolutely nothing to do with my question.

Please answer MY question, and to do that, please read the damned e-mail first.

I do pay for MyWireless, and am obliged to receive support. But by not answering my question at all, you are denying me support.
Please fix this

Thank you.
Hope it will not happen again.

I really think companies should not train their support employees
to look for keywords and then pop in an precreated response.

Blah, anyways
