Howzit guys.
I'm doing DIY IP cams in my place.
I opted for TP Link Tapo C310's
Everything working well but struggling to power the things with 10m extension cables. The cameras do get power but fail to start up fully.

Extension cable:

Camera:

Seems like its a common problem here:

Camera adapter is 9.0V/0.6A (DC Power)
Okes recommend using a 12v adapter and it should work fine?

Measure the actual voltage at the camara end, most probably it is a lot lower than 9V due to voltage drop. DC can usually accept a wide range so 12V should not damage anything. If you have more than one camera look at a decent power supply like Meanwell to power all the cameras.

I was at builders and picked up a more expensive 18m cable (almost double the length) and it worked first try.

Moral of the story, don't skimp on cables, no name brands on takealot obviously not high quality.
