IP Connect and Telkom line speed upgrades?

Internet service providers that use IP Connect, the Openserve wholesale ADSL offering, would see an effective 25% reduction in price.

Its Openserve Fibre Broadband (OFB) access portfolio will also see price cuts, along with speed increases — 2Mbps lines will be upgraded to 4Mbps, and 8Mbps lines to 10Mbps.
Does this apply to ADSL users as well and if Telkom controls your line are you an IP Connect user?

From 31 August, existing uncapped customers will automatically be upgraded to the new Unlimited Home Plans at higher speeds. Customers will be upgraded from 2Mbps to 4Mbps and from 4Mbps to 8Mbps or 10Mbps respectively. There have also been significant price reductions to the 20Mbps, 40Mbps and 100Mbps unlimited plans. The FUP has also been improved on most packages and data downloaded between midnight and 7am does not count towards the FUP.

The my broadband article puts the upgrade date at August 1.
I am looking for clarity on whether this is an across the board increase as in previous years or Telkom specific? I would happily join them for a month and then dump them again once I got the free upgrade?

Across the board , August 1st is to 31st August is the period they expect all upgrades to be done. The uncapped Telkom Internet clients i believe is being finalised by month end. This is due to their data package along with line speed that needs changes.

Yes, both Fibre & ADSL users.

If you are with another ISP, they choose whether they upgrade your line speed or give you more value [more data? network upgrades etc].

IP Connect are their resellers, no, not us plebs :crylaugh:.

To clarify my 4meg adsl line is administrated by Telkom. I however am a capped customer using another ISP. My interest is only in the line speed portion. In previous years Telkom would announce free line speed upgrades and they would be universal (across the board). As I pay for a capped account I get my ISP has nothing to do with my line speed. That is between me and Telkom. Now Telkom are not saying they are giving a free line speed upgrade as they did in the past but are indicating it is linked to their uncapped adsl customers. Hence the confusion on my part.
To quote:
The launch officially takes place from the 1 August as price changes also become effective on 1 August'17; however, all the identified 2 & 4Mbps uncapped bundle customers (DSL/FTTH) that can sync up to the next speed level will be upgraded from 31 August 2017 over a period of 2 months. 2Mbps will be upgraded to 4Mbps & 4Mbps will be upgraded to 8Mbps/10Mbps (depending on the network/sync speed).
Please note "uncapped bundle customers"
So as a Telkom customer for my line speed I am left totally confused. Do I get the speed upgrade or not. If I don't who is subsidizing the line speed upgrade, Telkom Internet or Open Serve either way I will be paying more for my 4meg line than an uncapped user who has suddenly been bumped to 8meg. Hope this makes sense, in my head it does but when I write it down it could just as well be Greek.

The Mybb article is very fuzzy. I also read 1 August as the upgrade date. Then there was confusion about ADSL and Fibre speed upgrades or Fibre only.
MyBB should really follow up with Telkom and give us a better indication.
