IP doesn't change

Hi

I'm running new software to automatically reconnect me when I get reset. The brilliant thing is that my IP hasn't changed for the past six days! I read somewhere on this forum that if you reconnect fast enough your IP doesn't change. Is this possible or was I just lucky?

no its false , you just got lucky!

amanjee you are correct, for instance on my freebsd box I reconnect in a few milliseconds compared to windows which is generally 1second+. Im not 100% sure yet, but the dhcp lease time is a few ms, anything more and you lose your ip lease and get assigned a new ip/lease.

The effect, I remain on same ip till I eventually get capped, where you get forced to different ip allocation in the range 165.165.x.x and i will remain on this same ip for the rest of the month.

I also use FreeBSD to manage PPPoE connection and have had an IP for 12 days..

Is it not possible to renew your IP before the reset and in effect cause it to remain the same always until capped?
