Hello fellow oppressed.
I've been looking all over for the my ip range, with little to no luck. I obviously have a telkom dsl line and use the telkom ISP. Someone on this site said that they start with 165.165.xxx.xxx. I don't think that's right because at the moment mine is 165.146.xxx.xxx. I just need to know the range of ip's mine can be. can anyone help?

If you need to setup up RDR NAT rules then the range that you can use is 165.164.0.0 - 165.165.255.255, although the ip address range belongs to AfricNIC and telkom only purchased a subnet within the range of 165.143.0.0 - 165.149.255.255

"telkom only purchased a subnet within the range of 165.143.0.0 - 165.149.255.255"

are you telling me my ip will always fall between those two? i just need to know for a friend to give access to an ftp server, that won't accept my dns (and obv. i don't have a static).

nothing fancy going on here.

trying using dyndns to keep track of your ip address changes and use a dns name www.dyndns.org they also have clients that automates the updating process.

i use dynamic dns, but the ftp client the other guy uses won't allow him to grant access to alpha chars, so my name.host.ext address doesn't help. therefore i need an ip, or as now available, the whole range.

thank you, this should work.
