I find this very interesting.

I have a small server, which I do testing on. I have a domain registered (monline.co.za) which points to the box.

I do not do automatic updates of the IP address, as I want to see how many times my IP address gets change.

So over the past 4 weeks this is how it has been:

Week 1 - Nearly everyday a reset of IP
Week 2 - Sometimes twice a day
Week 3 - 5 out of the 7 days IP changed
Week 4 (this week) - Since Saturday I have had the same IP.

So I guess the lesson learnt from this is that IPs are still changing but not everyday.

Anybody else doing these types of tests have any comments?

I'm not doing any sort of tests but there is a way to "request" the same ip every time you connect.

In windows I use raspppoe to connect to the internet. In the connection setting under the networking tab you have Internet Protocol(TCP/IP), now under there you can set your ip to whatever you want provided that the same ip could be obtained randomly. So check your ip now and you can set it to get the same ip next time you connect if you connect from your system. I'm sure there is a way to do the same in Linux. NOTE: you are not guaranteed to always get the same ip but you will most of the time.
