Hi,

I'm travelling to Kuala Lumpur in a few months time and I'm keen to pick up and an Ipad 2 since the pricing is roughly on par with the US prices. I imagine I wouldn't have any problems with the Wifi only models but would 3g be a problem here in SA.

Thanks

No problems with WiFi or 3G models! They will both work here in SA.

Good luck :) Make sure you can find stock before hand! It may be worth phoning up some shops and reserving. Although they would probably be available on the black markets I would imagine.

What, you mean your present from your dad/grandfather who lives in Kuala Lumpur? ;)

Or the one you bought on your previous trip to Malaysia.
You always pack in the box, etc in your checked-in luggage and the Ipad in your carry on

I bought the first generation iPad 3G in Kuala Lumpur last year. Found mine at the apple shop in Petronas Towers.

Leave packaging in KL, place booklets somewhere in your suitcase. IPad on carrion, on entering say you left the country with it.

Naa stuff it, do it legally. You are allowed to bring up to R5000 without paying import duties after that its a flat rate. Not worth the stress.

Why bother... the price difference doesn't justify the risk. If they charge you import duties when you get back you going to have paid more than the local price. If you don't pay the import duties you don't get the warranty in SA. For a grand, it's not worth it.

for the price difference , buy it locally, advantage of SA warranty
