Can anyone recommend a good repair facility in Johannesburg?
Need to get the glass replaced.

Thanks

I had to replace my iPhone 4 screen and used ifix in cape town. (http://ifix.co.za/) I see they have a PTA branch with joburg drop-off facility. You could probably also have it fixed through istore.

I was very sarisfied with the repair of my iphone and they were cheaper and quicker than apple agents quote.

Cool thanks.

this has me a little worried though:

iFix provides a 3 month guarantee on all provided parts and services, excluding LCD and Touchpad replacements or any damage caused by negligence (e.g. dropped or water damage).

and

Devices are booked in at the client's risk. iFix is not liable for any damage sustained during repairs.

So basically the repair could come back faulty and it's not covered, likewise they could destroy the ipad and it's not covered.

any other suggestions?

I don't want to go the DIY route, it's a complicated job for a n00b.
@Anthro, who is your mate?

I have had two iPhones "fixed" at ifix. Fake parts and rubbish quality.

I think the at-your-own-risk terms you are going to find with all repairers.

You can also try Digicape. They have been around for years and years, before core. Used to be the only place to go in CT to buy or repair apple products. Have branch in jhb. http://www.digicape.co.za/index.php

I always think it is a good sign if a company has been going for a few years and have grown from one branch to many across the country, like both Digicape and ifix. Implies they are doing something right and likely to be around in case of comebacks. No guarantee but better than someone you've never heard of before. Digicape longer established than iFix, but a bit more expensive and longer turnaround on my iPhone quote. Have used them before for iMac fix though.

Alternatively take it to the istore or your cellular provider. I have no experience with them but as official distributors they have to help you.

Hammell how do you know the parts are fake and what do you mean by rubbish quality? I was happy with my repair and would used them again, but am concerned by this comment?

Hi Hammell,

Please provide us with your details, as we keep records of all repair work done, a simple search of your e-mail will give you the iFix quote/invoice. We would love to get in contact, but without any details provided it is impossible for us to rectify our wrongdoings.

Regards
