Ipad 3 sluggish with iOS7 but not Ipad2

I'm kinda wondering what cerebus' take on this is. He always emphasised that Android's UI is not as slick, fluid and seamless as iOS'. But since the iOS 7 update, it seems this might not be the case anymore.

I don't have immediate access to an iPad 3, but I have used both the iPad 2 and 4 with both iOS 6 & 7. The animations are definitely not as polished and lag free as they were before. So yeah, even the younger hardware is struggling to keep up.

OTA. Does it make a difference?

Whenever a major update gets released (5-6-7 ect) then I always do a complete backup and then a clean install and the restore my latest backup - almost like a spring clean of sorts just incase there are files from the older versions that got left behind ect. The only time I do OTA is for small updates (7.0 - 7.0.1). I don't know if it makes much difference but just adding my 2 cents.

Great to hear. I spend a few minutes with iOS7 on the iPhone 5 and it also seemed to perform quite nicely.

All I kept hearing these guys say after the 4:50 mark is "...aaah.... it's ok" and the few spots they deemed to be laggy is actually a design choice by Apple (there's many Apple developer videos to support these design choices)

iOS7 deliberately uses animation to show view transitions, which should not be termed a lag re it behaves the same way on my iPad Mini. You should rather fault Apple's design choices.

Significantly changing a UI will always result in some discontent; there's many things I don't particular like about iOS7, most of which will most likely be perfected in time.

Btw many of the superfluous animations can be disabled by going to settings, accessibility, and switching reduce motion ON. Unfortunately it still does not turn off all the transition effects (in time I'm sure this will be corrected, the .03 release has already increased the number of effects that are simplified to a more simple fade)

Maybe you are right, it might have been a design choice. If this is the case, I'm rather disappointed, but hey, you can't satisfy everyone all of the time.

You're not alone is disliking some of the superfluous animations,

For example: I didn't like the default animations around the folders in the early betas; fortunately they toned it down before release and even better reduce motion makes that a simple fade. Another is the inconsistent tapping that you have to do to exit the folders; it often takes more than one tap to exit (plus it's not apparent that you have to tap, especially for anyone new)

I could easily go on; in general I feel that Apple has lost much of it's UI intuitiveness with the move from iOS6 to 7. I really doubt it's as kid friendly as it used to be.

Anyway post your feedback directly to Apple; ask them to remove / simplify all of the animation in the reduce motion setting -- if enough people complain it's likely to become part of the next update.

Now I'm finding that the home button is becoming unresponsive. It's not a hardware fault because it's happening when only some apps are open and when the settings page is open.

I have major wifi speed issues in my Ipad2 ever since i went to iOS 7. I stream alot of content from my PC, was perfect on iOS 6, but now, it buffers like every 5 minutes (in every app) . It's like the ipad wifi became super slow and laggy. Have not found a way to fix this, at this point i might have too look at jailbreaking or something to get my wifi speed back

I used bwana's reset of settings method on my wife's iPad Mini and it seems to have helped quite a bit on the responsiveness side.

Just disable the motion effects? The iPad 3 was quickly replaced in its day due to just being powerful enough to run retina, so I'm not surprised that its slow...
