Ipad...how do you save a web page or podcast?

My wife has the use of an iPad 3g thing.

How the heck does one save a web page for later (off-line) viewing?
How does one save a podcast/mp3 that is not downloaded via iTunes?
I dont really want to buy an app for this kind of support...
I also dont want to have to lug a desktop/laptop around to download stuff then load it into the ipad via itunes.

So far Ive found it a bit irritating coming form a PC environment. Its good for plain browsing however, I dont think tab'd browsing works? Pages you've visited constantly reload using your data cap. No flash support is an irritation.
Another pain was that my wifes OS is 10.4.4 or something and its not compatible with iPad itunes support so she has to upgrade. Oddly enough it will work fine on my XP os from 2002...

The iPad has iTunes (built in) for downloading music/podcasts and you can look for an app like Offline Reader for offline reading (though I'd probably pony up for something like InstaPaper or Offline Pages).

Thanks for the reply. Can I save/download podcasts and mp3s from anywhere using the iTunes prog or does it have to be from the iTunes store or affiliated with apple in some way?

I'll leave answering that up to someone else. I sync my iPad regularly so running new content through iTunes on the laptop is the simplest way for me.

We only have a desktop. It kinda defeats the point of having the iPad if you need to lug a desktop around with you Im not keen on putting iTunes on my PC laptop which I keep very clean with only one DJ prog (Traktor) on it and firefox.

iTunes is a pretty integral part of the iPad experience. At the very least it is necessary for upgrading the firmware and backing up the device. Syncing bookmarks, contacts, photos, etc are also handy features as well as importing movies and such. I've also installed apps like numbers so being able to print off it to a printer on my network is very handy.

If iPad doesn't suit you, you don't have to use it. Get something that does suit you.

You don't. You need an app for that. The one's Bwana mention should work fine. The internet sorta requires that you be online to connect to it. Internet browsers work best when actually connected to the internet.

You don't. If the podcast is not in iTunes app on the iPad, you're out of luck.

iPad works with iTunes - syncing to your PC is a simple way of getting data onto the device.

See above. Being online and on the internet sorta go together.

10.4.4 was released in Jan 2006, and 10.4.5 in Feb 2006. Your wife's mac will probably run 10.5.8 without a problem if it is PPC, and 10.6.6 if it is Intel.
She'll probably see performance increases if she were to upgrade. If she has an Intel mac the upgrade will cost R329.

jailbreak ur ipad ..... go to cydia........download ifile and safari download manager ........ then go to any mp3 website and download whatever you want
