When I try to backup my iPad in iTunes I get the following error,

'iTunes could not backup the iPad "..name.." because the backup could not be saved on the computer.'

I've tried what they say on http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2529 but no luck.

I'm using Windows XP SP3, FAT32 file system. I've got 27 Gig free on my hard drive.

I've also tried the following,

1) Uninstalled iTunes, Quicktime, Apple software update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, Apple Application Support.
2) Browse the hard drive and deleted any files related to Apple/iTunes
3) Cleaned up the registry (anything to do with iTunes, Apple, etc)
4) Deleted my iTunes folder under 'My Documents' (Which I should not have done, but I did manage to copy it back from the iPad)
4) Restarted the laptop
5) Downloaded the latest iTunes and installed
6) Turned off auto sync before connecting the iPad
7) Authorised my laptop
8) Right click on iPad and select 'Transfer Purchases'
9) Right click on iPad and select 'Sync' - Goes to quickly, not sure if it syncs correctly
10) Right click on iPad and select 'Backup' - The progress bar goes to the end and then I get the error.

I'm using two appleID's on the iPad. One for myself(SA store) and one for my wife (US store).

Any ideas or advice?

I'm new to the Apple world and the response on this forum was incredible, oh wait.... :D

Problem fixed, converted the file system from FAT32 to NTFS. Backup worked after the conversion.

:) only saw this now, i frequent more elsewhere nowdays ;)

I was just going to suggest the FAT32 conversion. Reason being FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit. So it could not save your backup files as some files must have been >4GB..

Anyways glad you sorted. If you have a problem in future please contact me
