I just heard something about CelluCity considering to offer to Ipad 2 on contract

Anyone else hear this??

Vodacom is offering playbooks.

playbooks are half. they released it without an email client, not sure if they have fixed it. but what amatures

I wouldn't mind a playbook with bis. BB seem to use a British proxy server which is useful to me.

As for iPad on contract, it'll probably be too pricey.

I don't think the iPad is actually available on contracts(sic) in South Africa. I have not yet seen Vodacom, MTN or Cell C offer a iPad on contract.

Correct if I wrong

here where i work mtn give us our own deals, we can get an ipad with many mtn contracts, however they don't come at a good price, they cost more than the iphones :/

The problem is that CelluCity etc can give the iPads on contracts, however the price they get them at is not what they would get if they were the agents for the product, ie vodacom has to buy them from core, the price is not great and as such they add on a huge mark-up to make it worth their while. Vodacom will also not allow you to "pay off" the pay-in on the contract, so even if you get one on contract, the pay-in is normally close to the cash price anyway.

From what i understand (not necessarily fact, just what i have heard from insiders), because you cannot make calls from the iPad, it is technically not a phone and as such it is not within Vodacoms realm to import and as such Core got the rights to it, VC would either need to buy from Core or get it imported via another service.

That being said, i dont understand why incredible connection dont offer you a R6 000 instore voucher with a contract and then the client can simply go and buy the iPad with the voucher. Sales would go through the roof, but no stock would make this a crap idea.
