ipcop and permanently connected router

Hi there

Any help would be ap[preciated.i have an ipcop box and a vigorv router. i can set my gateway on my win pc to the router and it internet works fine. i set up a ipcop box set the red to the same ip as the router and the green to my network, it says connected but when i change my gateway on my machine to that of the ipcop box,the internet does not work. with my very limited knowledge of ipcop,i can set up a pppoe conection to dialup. i have uncapped permanent adsl,i want my ipcop to be the gateway,please help

As far as I know, you have to put your router into "bridged" mode before connecting it to IPCOP.

Basically, your turning your router into a normal modem by doing this, allowing IPCOP to take over.

It's possible that it may work if you don't put the router in bridged mode, to try this, change your internal network IP range to something other than the default routers one, or change the routers IP number.

Your windows gateway should be the same IP as your IPCop box.

For instance, I have my IPCOP setup to 192.168.10.1

You must NOT set your IPCop red interface to the same IP as your router - this will cause an IP conflict. If you put it in the same RANGE - and set the default gateway for the red interface to the router's IP, things should work.

That's your problem. You should give them different IP's on the same network, like for example:

router: 10.0.0.1
IPCOP RED: 10.0.0.2
IPCOP RED gateway: 10.0.0.1

Then make IPCOP GREEN a different network, say 192.168.1.1, en able DHCP server on IPCOP, and set your machine(s) to get their IP addresses automatically.
