I noticed today that my wife's iPhone 11 battery health has dipped below 80% and as a result the phone displays a message that it is advisable to have the battery replaced at an Authorised Service Provider.

I've seen that WeFix charges under R1000 according to their website but I'd rather go with Apple instead of a third party.

Presumably this would be a bit cheaper than buying a new phone... does anyone know what iStore charges to replace iPhone 11 batteries? I'd assume they do it while you wait?

R1099,00 at an iStore 'tho I can't speak to while-you-wait. They might check the phone in.

I'g give Digicape a call too, they might be quicker.

R1099.
Great prices, but are they authorised?

That's one of the downsides with an Apple product one must usually accept when wanting one, the OS becomes hostile when it didn't phone home via proprietary interface to verify the new part(s) installed. I suspect that's where the 'justified' costs lie.

Pretty sure you aren’t replacing the battery of a phone with a warranty…then you wouldn’t care about the price.

They are much better than the clowns at Core and iStore.

Absolutely, though I was only remarking about out-of-warranty (I don't think I implied it, apologies).

I see they also fix displays and batteries of much older devices as well, on top of actually doing iPad batteries which iStore doesn't, that's really nice.

It's just a pity that I can't seem to find anything relating to being authorised (apart from a blurb on genuine parts), I'll contact them tomorrow and I might go to their Durban branch if verified because I definitely believe their workmanship and speed supersedes Core etc.

Don’t think anyone can buy genuine parts without being authorised.

But with right to repair and all that I don’t think any of that matters any more.

In the end, I went to the local iStore and got the battery replaced first thing on a Saturday morning. It took about 2 hours or so and they smsed me when the collection was ready. I just had a lengthy wait at the Service Desk to actually collect the phone, due to the busyness of customers queuing for various reasons.
It was definitely cheaper and easier than having to replace the phone though. There were just a few frustrating issues after signing back in to iCloud again once I had the phone back home - for one thing the paired Apple Watch just would not update any activities at all until I unpaired the watch and restored it from backup. A few other iCloud niggles as well, but resolved those.
It makes me cringe whenever a there is a need to sign out and back in to iCloud as there always seems to be some kind of issue afterwards.

Ah I see, thanks for the update!

I also completely forgot about this thread lol, TheRealRepairCompany to this day still hasn't reached back to me and won't answer on WhatsApp for some reason. I also don't like the reviews on Facebook and since they can't flash the necessary things to legitimize the repair, it's not wholly worth it to me. Perhaps my really old devices to keeps them for other reasons.

I also replaced my spare iPhone 8 phone battery at the iStore in Pretoria in a couple of hours - they ordered the battery same day because they did not have stock and replaced it - by 5pm got an SMS to say the phone was ready. So impressed - did not cost an arm and a leg R900. They will be seeing a lot of me

While i hate to support Core Group, i would take it to iStore because their repairs are considered official repairs from Apple. Such a dying shame but anyway... At least then if you ever wanted to trade it in or something its shown as repaired by Apple, not a 3rd party.
