Well, this is what I have been able to get from blogs, discussion boards, so far.

It does not look promising, still no MMS!! FFS! Apple, fix it!

1. You can use the iPhone as an external modem
2. The MMS service unfortunately will not be included again but there will be a workaround.
3. The new AppIN-Suite will be available. There will be a summary of the best apps out of the apple store for free. It doesn`t matter if the apps are now for money or not. Unfortunately we have no more information in detail.
4. The auto correction will not be longer possible to deactivate because Apple is planning ab better solution.
5. You get 30% better UMTS and HSDPA connection speed.

Got it from here : http://www.programmiersprachen.de/f...le-board/iphone-board/7477-iphone-update-2-3/

Still don't think I'll upgrade to the newest version, will wait till they bring out something major, or the apps I use force me too

I'm with Gothan on this. It has taken quite some time to get my phone to *exactly* the way I like it. Tons of apps tested and installed, hours spent tinkering with things. Jailbroken, etc. Everything just the way I like it.

Upgrading now could change all of that yet again. I'll hang on as long as I can, and then make the leap when I feel something mind-blowing has finally happened. And SwirlyMMS does exactly what I need for now, so not even native MMS will do it for me at this point!

Yip, that is why I don't mind mms not being part of the upgrade (although I wonder what the work around is), swirlymms is the best

What is the software version thats "optimal" to use? ....wrt jailbreaking and apps that one uses.

im quite happy with 2.2.1...
havent run into any problems with any apps...
it does seem a tad slow though, especially when i try to open my sms apps. even more so when i have a lot of smses...

I'll update when it trickles down to me - I didnt see it when I synced this morning.

Why are people fussing about there being no MMS? I can understand the consternation about cut and paste still not being available (sure its not mission critical but a glaring and incomprehensible omission all the same) but who uses MMS when you have email? I cant recall the last time I even considered mms'ing someone.

I have been seeing that slowdown with opening SMS as well (standard app that comes with the iPhone).

Free tethering is a bonus.

yeah, i dont really get it either. if you can receive mmses then you most probably have internet access somewhere.. which means you can check your email every now and then. i think the problem lies in the fact that those of us who are still in school/studying dont check our emails that regularly.

but yes, can't remember the last time that i wanted to send an mms anyone either...

isnt it kinda already a modem????
i mean , it has 3g , so are'nt you able to access the net through bluetooth on your laptop?!

The Safari browser is more than capable!

I actually enjoy it a lot to surf the net with my iphone. :)

Not everyone I know receives email on their phones, so MMS is useful if you want to send a pic to them - also it's push, so they get it when you send it.

I'll sometimes use it if I'm in the shops and want an opinion on something, or sometimes when giving directions - I send them a pic of the sign they need to follow. I only send about 5 MMSs a month, but they do have a place on my list of required features.

I agree Colin. Even if I'm not gonna use it, I still want it on my iPhone.

I'll def do the upgrade when it's released!

Free tethering? I paid $5 for that useless iPhone Modem application off Cydia and it never works!

As for MMS/Copy&Paste... Have you people never heard of Cydia?!?!
