Yup, me too - need pricing details first - I can u/grade again April next year - or else if the price is right, I will do a PAYG purchase.

i am also on payg but i suspect the phone will cost a few thousand here, but if i can get one for under $199 in the states,i will make a plan.

Do you think if you pre-order you can not buy it if it's too expensive?

Lets wait and see how Vodascum will try rip us off even after being warned to stick to the pricing.

yeah my sentiments exactly there should be a RECOMMENDED RESALE PRICE ten they will be stuffed.

Apple have warned the whole world that it may not be sold for more than they have specified but watch, Vodascum will give it only on a Talk 1000 or something. They will not just give these phones away.

let them do what they want because some other company/person will sell it cheaper and then vodacom will lose out.

Not going to happen locally - VC have the exclusive deal - unless you import it.

I wonder if the iStore will also be selling it with a VC PAYG..

If I get one it will be through the UK'S O2 but I'm in no hurry . . . the missus might decide otherwise though :o

OH HELL NO!!! i will try get the think from the usa if its available without a contract there.

I need to see this phone physically first before I give up on all the apps available on Windows Mobile on my current PPC phone.

Speculation. From how much Vodacom sell some of the HTC PPC phones ON PAYG.

Just look at how much the Iphone classics are selling in the classifieds a while back.

BTW I am also using a PPCp hone at the moment.

i see the iphone (most likely the 1st generation) is still going for about R5000.00 upwards. if the americans say it is to be sold for $199.99 there abouts, then surely south africa cannot sell it for thousands of rands.

That's the price you pay when you get it with a contract.
$199 for 3G Iphone prepaid? It's as real as we are getting 12mbps uncapped ADSL for R300 from 1st of July.
