I followed the instructions in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enGec18zF1w and removed the dust from under an iPhone 3G screen.
Be very careful when lifting out the screen, the cables that attach it to the mainboard are VERY short.
Leave the suction cup attached to the outer lens, it makes handling the thing a lot easier.
