Hi a few days ago i check my balance on my Mtn contract and its was just over R300 unbilled bal, so i call the 808 and its all data. so i check the phone stats its all upload data and not even download, so where could the problem be because i never installed any new App's. Inthe meantime i disable cellular data on the device.

disable your mail from checking every 5 mins.....the internetz is scarce in SA.

botnet zombie...

you could have become a zombie in a botnet and are sending out tons of spam.

is your phone jailbroken?

Oh hectic, that makes my answer a lot more likely then. Did you install OpenSSH? Did you change your password? You realise that out the box every jailbroken iPhone has the same password and root password, right? If you did change the password then you need to think about whether you chose something lame and easily brute forced, and if the answer is that you did then you almost certainly got owned by somebody. Yikes, that's not a nice place to be. They can do a lot of horrible stuff, like record audio and video whenever they want, use your GPS to pinpoint where you are etc. etc. How to fix? I guess I'd establish whether what I'm saying is indeed the case and once you have confirmed that it is then you should probably patch the holes and get rid of the person/people and all their backdoors.

Mobile Terminal was installed, i cant remember if i change the password but when i tried to change the password it ask me for old password well i tried 5 passwords that i normally use and none of them worked, also tried the default pass that is root and nothing. Well maybe the hackers changed the password, i tried passwd reset and got this msg" user reset not found in file /etc/master.passwd.

How can i get these hackers out. it sucks big time to tern off cellular data and wifi

If you want to be properly sure, you are going to have to reformat it.

But you can use "passwd root" to change the root password, "passwd <user name>" is the format to use.

If you want to be 100% safe, get an Android phone and root it, then it is yours and nobody can do anything to it without your permission :p

getting "Permission denied" msg

change password

dude, launch mobileterminal fresh again. type "passwd" - enter "alpine" when it asks for the old password, and if you progress to being asked for a new password and a repeat of that new password then great, you had the default password set which is probably why you got owned.

once you've done that type "su -" and enter "alpine" again as the password. if that works then once again type "passwd" and this time it won't prompt you for the old password but just a new one and a repeat of that.

if what i've said above doesn't happen then either you didn't do what i said exactly, or you already had the password changed by whoever owned you. and if that's the case rather just redo your phone from scratch as it's probably not something you really want in your life in its current form.
