Good morning chaps.

I had a look for a similar thread in the past few months and didnt see anything useful so i thought i would ask.

I have an iPhone 5 and had an iPhone 4 previously.

What i would like to know is how your battery lasts between charges? how long does it stay on 100% after a full charge etc?

IMO, the iphone 4 had the best battery life of a 'current' smartphone and i am solidly impressed with it even after 2 years of use. It would typically last about 2 days with 7/8 hours usage.

The iPhone 5 is a far faster device with obvious improvements in the screen and speed of the UI. but the phone at this point barely makes a full day cycle without dying. (with similar usage)

How long do your iPhone's battery last?

I have tried all the tweaks including restoring to default and then adding contacts and adjusting location settings etc... but the phone seldom lasts longer than a day without needing a charge. I also am in the process of 'training' the battery, so far it seems to work a bit better, but i doubt it will last longer than a day. whereas the iPhone 4 would seldom last less than a day and a half...

Should i take the phone to an apple store and claim whilst it is still under warranty?

Thanks in advance!

6 - 8 hours constant usage, has lasted nearly 2 days with minimal usage. Depends how you use it of course. If you hardly do anything it can last ages.

Have you been through Privacy/Location services to make sure battery-consuming apps/tasks aren't using juice when they shouldn't? GPS and GPS tagging would be one of the main culprits.

4 > 4S > 5 in terms of battery AFAIK.

I get just over two days on mine if cellular is off, wifi is always on. If I use cellular it lasts about a day.
Do you close the apps that are running in the background?

I had an iPhone 4 previously as well and find it lasts about the same.

On iOS 6 I was getting about 5 and a half hours usage, but Im currently running iOS 7 beta 5, and in my opinion the battery life is better and Im getting 7 hours with of "usage" which lasts about a day and a half for me.

I do close the background apps.

I havent tried turning off mobile data when i have wifi coverage though.
Will try that today :)

Thanks

That is promising to hear! I am looking forward to iOS7...

Have you guys all updated to 6.1.4?

I was having issues, until I turned off "LTE" under mobile settings. That did the trick and battery life improved significantly...

Some days when I put my phone on to charge at night it's still has over 50% battery... also on iOS7 beta 5.

I found with all the other versions my phone would randomly start getting cooking hot and the battery would drain before my eyes.

My LTE is always off... although i got some nice speeds when i did test it... 20+mbps down and 5mbps up ;)

Mine only lasts about 8 hours with Wifi switched off and 3G on. However, if the 3G is turned off then it lasts almost a whole day.

I have an iPhone 5 and my phone was not lasting me a full days usage. By 5pm the phone would be on 20% requesting to be fed.

So I did some searching and found a battery case - Mophie Juice Pack - http://www.mophie.com/product-p/2250_jph-ip5-mblk.htm

They have different size batteries - Helium, Air & Plus - http://www.mophie.com/iPhone-5-Power-s/118.htm

Luckily Kalahari.net sell them, but only sell the Helium, so got one from there : http://www.kalahari.com/electronics/mophie-Juice-Pack-Helium-for-iPhone-5-Silver/4585/47540252.aspx

It comes in black & silver. I got the silver since I have a white iPhone. It works great and lasts me the whole day now with heavy usage. It also protects the phone. Obviously it makes the phone heavier and bigger, but I don't mind.

Cool thanks for that :)

I am just trying to find out how I can improve battery life for the phone on its own. I like the size and know that the battery can last longer if the settings are right...
