Recently (for the last 5days), my iPhone has had no service (I am on Cell C)
I thought perhaps i had a faulty sim card, but i have put my sim card into another iPhone5 and it works fine.

The strange thing is, is that when i connect my phone to the USB cable it gets 1 bar of service (nothing good enough to make a call)

I have tried resetting the phone to factory settings ,rebooting etc and nothing works.

Could there be power supply problem with my phone? Has anybody heard of or experienced a similar problem?

Do you have a case on your phone? Does the service improve without the case on?

If you don't get a decent solution or at least find a bunch of people with the same problem on the first page of a google search then it's probably a faulty phone. Apple owners get pretty irate when something doesn't work properly... take the phone to a cellc branch, do the demonstration where you swap sims with one of their phones and they should replace.

Could be:
(a) Holding it wrong (thanks Apple)
(b) Cell C's wonderful network situation (thanks Cell C)
(c) Roaming settings on phone (only you played with it)
(d) A combination of the above.

How does another SIM do in the faulty phone?

Hi Guys
Yeah i have tried disabling the LTE and it doesn't make any difference.

Another SIM in my phone gives the same result, and my SIM in another phone works, so I've ruled out a faulty SIM card.

Just think its so strange that when i plug into a power source (either charging or USB) it changes from No Service to one bar of signal!

Sounding more and more like a fault phone - I will be taking it in to Cell C!

I get a similar issue now and then where it will show the Cell c name, but there will be no bars, and no calls etc come through. If I turn it on and off it goes away. Has happened about 3 times now. Doesn't seem to pick up Vodacom either when I do a manual search.
