Apple says initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus sold out

Initial quantities of the iPhone 7 Plus have sold out globally as Apple Inc prepares to roll out its new gadget in stores, the company said Wednesday.

Supplies of the larger size of Apple's new phone have been exhausted in all shades, and the smaller iPhone 7 has also sold out in the new jet black color, the company said.

Customers who enter Apple Stores Friday, when the gadgets hit shelves, will not be able to purchase the sold-out phones on site, but they can continue to place orders for their desired models online, Apple said.

"We sincerely appreciate our customers' patience as we work hard to get the new iPhone into the hands of everyone who wants one as quickly as possible," Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said in a statement.

Not looking good for an early realease in countries outside the first 2 launch groups (like SA) for an early launch date, or there being a lot of stock when it does.
 
Would any of you jump for the option to get the new iPhone 7 from Europe? (Say someone is visiting at the end of October). Not always sure of the "Core warranty" if I bring it back home.

The core warranty sucks anyway...nothing like the real deal.
 
Yeah, I think I've found my next upgrade! But, as with every iPhone, I'm going to rather wait until the "S" comes out, when all the niggles people are bound to find with the straight 7 have been ironed out.

But then you need to wait for them to iron out the bugs with the 7S...probably best to wait for the 8 or the 8S...you know... The bugs...

Come now - the 6 was a total dud compared to the 6s. Need I remind you of #bendgate?
 
Throwing a thought into the Lightning earphone debate, with a very untechnical test (I played the same song using 3.5mm EarPods and Lightning EarPods) and there does seem to be an improvement in sound quality with the Lightning EarPods, bass is definitely more pronounced and the sound is slightly cleaner.

Maybe Apple will be vindicated in the long run...
