iPhone 7 Power Connector repair

One of the receiving 'pins' in my daughters iPhone 7 is damaged which translates into intermittent ability to charge the phone (most charger cables don't work).

Digicape informs me that neither they, nor the iStore branded Core stores, are authorised to do any repairs beyond screen and battery replacements.

Can anyone recommend a reliable place in the Cape Town area to have the power connector replaced with no damage to fingerprint reader or other sensitive bits.

Firstly, did you try to clean it with some rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab thing you can make fit in there?

Digicape did an evaluation for me - cleaned it out and came to the conclusion that one of the power tracks is worn.

This is not an issue of the charging port itself but hardware issue on the logic board, known as the tristar chip or charging IC. It’s a very common issue with iPhone 7 and 7 plus.

That was the final blow for my 7 i had few years back, was pointless repairing it at the time, it was half the price of the phone

7 is still a damn nice phone, my brothers one still gets the latest updates

Well, for whatever reason the phone charges when plugged into one of my powerbanks - think I'll just keep doing that while it still works.
