iPhone 8 & iPhone X Thread

iStore Twitter confirmed some pre-orders going out tomorrow, some pre-orders going early out next week.

Just spoke to the vodacom online call center again. They still don’t have the contract packages ready. Apparently the department that will handle the outbound calls for the pre orders are ready but can’t proceed as no packages are loaded in the system

And apprabtely some poeple already received phone calls. So either it's not the X they getting or Vodacoms right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing
 
Really annoyed with Vodacom. I haven't heard a peep from them. I'm tempted to just jump ship to Telkom Mobile.

I've been annoyed with them for the past 23 months of my 24 month contract...after already knowing better at least the prior two contracts and stupidly still sticking it out because of a good deal.

Go to Telkom.

I just took the plunge with Telkom. Here's to hoping I don't regret it!
 
Word is out vodacom to call clients from 2pm today. Pricing to be available on their site at the same time. Let’s see
 
Is just a phone.

And if you already have an iPhone besides being a little snappier it's not going to do anything radically new.

Even the augmented reality stuff introduced in ARkit have fallen off the earth besides some cooky apps.

I like my X but one you unlocked it with FaceId it does nothing special that iphone 6/7/8 can't do.

My new shiny Audi does exactly the same as my 2 year old one. Basically the same, but it’s not.

I’m getting the X purely for the screen estate. iPhone 7/8 plus is a bleedy brick

Plus iPhones still get better screen estate in terms of width. X is just an elongated 8. That's what pushed me into not upgrading this year. I will wait until there is a Plus size oled screen that doesn't have weird aspect ratios that cause cut outs
 
I can't see how it won't work? Tons of US tourists roaming on our networks.

Better? When you watch movies? I haven’t used my plus once in landscape mode. I also don’t watch movies on it. Odd YouTube video here and there. I use my phone mainly for business and the longer screen, yet smaller and lighter device, will come in handy. Like I said, the current plus devices are bricks. They are big and heavy.

But each to their own :)

Yes the GSM World phones include the CDMA frequency.

While the CDMA ones don’t include everyone other frequency.

Incorrect, the World model doesn’t include CDMA, it’s the A1901 marketed as the AT&T and T-Mobile version. The CDMA version is marketed as the Verizon version and is model A1865.

Both models have the same LTE frequencies.
