iPhone 8 & iPhone X Thread

Using my old Nokia 930 wireless charger. It too works, just doesn't charge -that- fast..

Got one of these from amazon. Just tried it last night. Haven’t seen how fast it charges but I got their recommended 5V/2A 10 watt charger sold separately.

Also 3 coils and works with phone in landscape position

Was at the new iStore in Tygervalley and saw the new iPhone there, a beautiful device. Size wise I still prefer the plus size.

Is it possible to get the iPhone X on monthly installments without contract? i.e phone only?

Thanks, doesn't seem like that they have stock though.

clearwater Vodacom and istore received stock on the 30th, vodacom received 5 units, i went through on 31st to get my upgrade, they had 1 left..

i dont understand why they dont bring in more iPhones in the first tranch? Does apple limit the country on the initial release?

Picked up mine from Cellucity Cavendish this morning, plenty stock.

With meltdown and spectre security patches coming out for most chipmakers, Apple too sent out it's 11.2.2 patch. With Intel CEO stating there can be a reduction of 30% in performance (for their chips depending on the load) I thought I had to test this on the iPhone X. So has this security patch decreased performance? ... Short of it ... Yes

benchmarks below

Before (iOS 11.2)

After (iOS 11.2.2)

0.25% reduction in single core and 3.1% performance decrease for multicore

Is that enough to make a difference in real world use. I don't think so ...:)

My scores... iPhone X

12 December 2017 (iOS 11.2) - Single Core 4226 - Multi Core 10348

16 December 2017 (iOS 11.2.1) - Single Core 4247 - Multi Core 10137

11 January 2018 (iOS 11.2.2) - Single Core 4229 - Multi Core 10333

Mine has remained basically the same apart from the multi core in 11.2.1 taking a dive.
