i'm thinking of getting an iphone when i go overseas next week but im terrified that i come back and it wont work properly with my casual chat 100 sim card?
ive heard some wierd things about cell c refusing to jump on the 3G train and therefore the phone wont work with that sim...?
anybody got any information for me?

I can't talk for the new iPhone 3g as know one has seen or played with one yet. However for the old/current iPhone doing the rounds people have been using them on the Cell C network without any issues.

The issue you are going to have is network locked devices, that you will need to sort out.

Have a great trip. ;)

The 1st iPhone works great on CellC - had my 084 sim card in there for a few days before the GF took it over! EVERYTHIN worked, from sms to browsing & e-mail. BUT... That was on the non 3G iPhone, and we all know CellC doesn't do 3G! So it will be like an old iPhone, just with an added GPS... So either port your number to MTN/Voda, or use the iPhone at EDGE speeds...

BTW - Vodacom on a old iPhone sucks - its sitting mostly on GPRS, no EDGE at all... But the new HSDPA iPhone should kick a$$ on Voda and MTN at least!
