Wondering if anyone can help me.
Loaded 2.3gb ad hoc bundle to my iphone as I was going away and needed connectivity. Turns out there was a Line where I was and didnt need the data on my phone...
Anyway This past weekend I decided to use my phone as a modem as I had all that data sitting there.

Used it as a modem the whole weekend, and suddenly I get "U have used 90% of your voluntary Call limit" over sms on sunday night. I check my data bundle, it says I still have 2.25gb. Which means it only used 50mb of bundle and it charged me out of bundle rates for the rest!
Today i went over the call limit (obviously) and no my account is blocked for the month.

Called a mate at Vodacom and he confirmed that there is still 2.25gb data sitting there.

When you tether the iPhone and use it as a Modem does it not use the Bundle? WTF!?

I've been using my iPhone as a modem for a while with data bundles and I've never had this problem. I'm also with vodacom.

Good to know. Thanks man.

I'll get hold of customer care tomorrow.

Never had this problem on Vodacom either. Always used the bundle first no matter what.

I too use my iPhone as a modem and never encountered any hassles to date!

Lodge a complaint

Wow if you get charged out of bundle rates it could be bad, all should be reversable and possible to sort out I'd think. You could PM VodacomData or ocleroux on the forums and ask for help. Both are really helpful when it comes to queries.

Do you have a normal monthly bundle on your contract? I am asking because my contract includes 110MB per month, and it will use up that bandwidth first before going to the ad-hoc bundle.

I often get these messages when i still have a large chunk of bundle still available, I chalk it down to inaccurate systems and probably incompetence. It is worrying at times though as you're never quite sure if you're over your bundle or not!

You would think with the exorbitant OOB charges that 'they' would make it a priority to make sure their systems are recording the correct usage in order to protect the consumer from overspend, but they don't, and we do on occasion overspend because of this, coincidence? I reckon they make a small killing from folks accidentally going OOB.

That would be enough to make me see red (literally, with their new color)

I often use my iPhone as a wireless hotspot, and it only uses my data bundle. PS I am on MTN
