iPhone AT&T Unlock

Guys, I'm starting to panick. Will I be able to unlock this damn thing.
The problem is, I am not even getting into the menu and I read so many threads on the net that I will needing a original AT&T, T-mobile or wherever this Iphone is from sim card to unlock it?
Can someone here confirm the same?

Today is your lucky day.. In 2hrs 40minutes, Blacksn0w will be released to unlock the new baseband :)

Is your iPhone the 2G/3G or 3GS?

If it's a 3G/3GS then just run the program and it will activate it and unlock it for you :) No need for an AT&T SIM.

If 2G, then there are other ways..

Edit...yea baby, it worked :D Finally, can use my Iphone again. 20$ are going to the man who made my christmas come early
 
i bought a 2nd hand iphone so i went to go an update it to 3.1.2 firmare now the darn thing is locked and shows "no service"

can anyone help please!

download and run it with your iphone connected but itunes closed.
Takes 15 seconds.

Then go in to blackra1n on your iphone and install cydia and blacksn0w
