If i send a vcard on sms to my iphone, it never seems to arrive.
A normal sms works, but a vcard, the iphone seems to receive it in the background and then never shows it on the screen on anything
sendind from n95

thats the downfall of the iPhone .. cant do mms, the vcard is an mms! major oversight on their side !!! probably the only thing that keeps it from being the best phone ever made in the last 2 years.

@IRG, before posting you actually need the correct info/facts regarding the subject being discussed...

Anyway, the iphone has MMS capabilities

* OP 3.0 has got a built in MMS
* SwirleyMMS (jailbroken phone)

Depending on how urgently you need to be able to receive MMS!

The new OP for the iphone should be available in June including MMS.

well before beheading me... I am correct in saying prior to 3.0 it did not (standard not cracked or hacked) support mms. Vcard is still definately not standard sms. It might also be an incompatibility issue. I know that with my wifes omnia, its a flipping round about way to detach the vcard and register it. Might be similar for the iphone ?!?. And I was in no way dissing the iPhone, if you note what I said !

Here is a work around http://craigl21.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/12/vcard-for-iphone.html

Lol, my turn to point and laugh at defensive personalities :)

I know that "Iphone cant do mms" is a VERY commonly said thing around the web, so Im sure IRG had SOMETHING right.

Cant do vCard either, just like the mms, you got to send it as an email...

Hehehe probably said by people not actually owning a iphone and also reading it somewhere on a forum without reading further.

Advising someone on something you don't have a clue about is the problem...

@IRG, the OP currently being used can't MMS, only way to receive a MMS would be to jailbrake and install a third party app.(SwirlyMMS)

But like I said the new OP will have MMS and tethering built in...(somewhere in June)

So if a person is considering or comparing two phones, telling someone(potential buyer) the iphone can't receive a MMS would be a bad bit of info :)

Wait for OS3 ~ 9-12th June....

Or use a beta version of 3 - you can 'Share Contact' direct from the contact list.

Or use SwirlyMMS

Or ask that person to send his vCard via email for the time being.
