So have an iPhone 4s for a week,

first few days, no problem then this morning I realised I had gone through more than 300Mb of data, out of bundle with ridiculous MTN, in two nights. checked my data tracker and OS Services, whatever that may be downloaded 306Mb last night, what is OS Services? Am I in for 150Mb download every night by the OS? the night before I wasn't near wifi so that comes out my data bundle? should i consider jail breaking to better control the data drag?

Thanks
D

Do you have your backup to cload service on, I used over 1 gig in two weeks couple of months ago, had to fight with them till I realised what is was actually using the data. No I only backup via usb cable to my itunes then to the cload.

Simply put... you are not alone. All new 4s owners are experiencing the same.. Turns out the problem is that Apple ships iOS5 with iCloud data syncing over cellular networks ON by default.

This means all the documents and data stored on your phone for all the applications you have installed on your phone will be automatically uploaded to iCloud, decimating our puny cellular data plans we thought we would never burn through.
follow these steps:
Navigate to: Settings -> iCloud -> Documents & Data -> Use Cellular
Turn it OFF
Fighting with your service provider is actually pointless and will cause you unnecessary frustration....

Navigate to: Settings -> iCloud -> Documents & Data -> Use Cellular
I think you mean Settings -> iCloud -> Storage & Backup -> iCloud Backup ->iCloud Backup

I have Docs & Data set ON and I don't have a problem. IMHO it is the backup that is the real culprit. When that is combined with what you mentioned, you get this issue. Rather backup to HD every time you sync with iTunes. With the backup out of the way, Docs & Data only comes into play when you explicitly ask to open a file.

Oh yes, and install the free Onavo app.
