My iPhone 6 started saying no service since this morning.
Take simcard and place in another phone and it works.
place another sim in my phone and it works.

eventually Vodacom did a sim swap but still same issue.

any recommendations?

Try switching your network search to Manual instead of Automatic.

There was another trick but I'm buggered to remember now.

jip done that, restored, reset network settings, sim swap....

Was the other sim that worked also Vodacom, or a different network?

Was you phone recently repaired? Battery swop or anything like that?

Phone is blacklisted... Guy i bought it from , bought it from another chap who never paid his contract and vodacom blacklisted the imei... Got my money back at least

i experienced a similar issue to this on my iPhone 6 but it comes and goes, i haven't seen it in a while.

Did the phone not connect at all while on the VC network?

And to think I had this exact argument with someone the other day about why I don't want to chance buying a second hand phone even if it's brand new and sealed from an upgrade, because much like a car I expect that Vodacom will mark the device as "stolen" if that person stops paying.

Come hell and high water he claimed they blacklist the client not the device.

Glad I didn't take that chance now.

Normally that's because your SIM doesn't fit the slot properly.

A bit of sellotape to keep it in place normally sorts it out.

Nope i got it straight from vc... That phn is blacklisted

Yeah Vodacom is very strict with contracts.... I was caught like that too with my Samsung S5. Just started showing no service.

Phone was blacklisted by Vodacom for "Bad Debt" which means contract most likely was not paid.....

Not sure if other networks do this but I see it is mostly Vodacom that Blacklists devices if the contract is not paid.
