Hi guys,

Very strange issue that i havent been able to find an explanation for with my iphone 4s....

Last night i went to bed, plugged my phone in to charge (it was on about 15%). This morning i woke up with my phone showing the little charging lightning bolt, but the power was on 59% and continued dropping.

My phone has been plugged in all morning now and has dropped down to 20%, the charging sign has now also stopped showing up, and i'm not too sure what could be wrong.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Not too keen for the battery to die and never turn back on again.

Phone is about 18 months old.

Are you using the Wall Charger or the USB ports on a PC?

-Are your cables OEM (Original)?
-Did you recently upgrade to iOS 7?

Do a hard reset.

Ended up taking it in. They replaced the battery, still had the same issue. It appears there's actually an issue on the logic board and therefore the phone is now essentially useless. I watched it slowly drain and die though. Cant believe how randomly and unexpectedly this happened!

That sucks. A friend of mine's Note 2 did the same. Sad part was even though the phone was under warranty, they refused to repairit because they claimed that he dropped the phone. All he did was plug it in when he went to bed and it was shagged the next day.

Tried all options and yes, recently updated
Current USB ports on computer can't supply enough amperage to charge iPad, simillar to the small apple cube chargers
The apple won't charge from most PC USB ports, Mac USB ports some magically provide the correct voltage.

Actually no, its to do with specific loading on the USB D+ and D- pins. Blackberry also did this, we hacked that aswell. In future they will put serial memories in the charger, preventing charging with any non-official charger. What they do in these cases is put sets of resistors on D+ and D- which then puts specific voltages on these pins. If USB is present it will override those resistors.
