I am going to take a stab here and guess this study comes down to education, same as the religion vs intelligence study. iPhones are very expensive, people who are wealthier and can afford them generally have a better education. Nothing really surprising here.

So, a corollary to your hypothesis would be that educated people are wealthy?

I can get an iPhone 5S for R470.00pm ... or an Samsung S4 at R400.00 ... or a Z1 at R450.00. In my eyes that R70.00/R20.00 is not something that 'only the rich/educated can afford'.

You get budget Android devices but you don't get a budget iPhone.

I'm just saying that I've read the whole money / wealth / Apple being so premium that it's seen as a status symbol - when it's actually not at all (ie the quote : iPhones are very expensive, people who are wealthier and can afford them)

When my Samsung S3 was brand new someone mumbled that the people that use Samsungs can't afford Apple devices ... I'm trying to show the difference is not a money issue and some (not you) Apple users can get off their high horse and realise that the 100 million folk that bought the S3/S4 could have got an iPhone if they wanted.
