iPhone personal hotspot on PAYG?

I am pretty sure you can do this no problem, I'm almost 100% sure it will work fine. I've IM'd and asked a friend to confirm as he has that combination (PAYG Vodacom and iPhone4 & a WiFi iPad) and can quickly test for me. Will post an update here when I get a reply from him.

I am also using CellC prepaid in an iPhone 4 with a hotspot for MBP, I buy R100 airtime on Monday & get a Gig of data.

sounds like i should think about getting a Cell C sim - is there any relevance to buying the airtime on a Monday specifically?

Yip. Cell c currently has a promotion (running till end September if I'm not mistaken)
If you recharge with R50 or more (max 100), you get 10mb of data, and 1 SMS for each rand spent. It expires at midnight of the first Sunday after recharging. Plus you still get your airtime, which does not expire. So R100 gives you a gig of data, 100 SMS (I think only on cell c, someone can just confirm this), and R100 airtime
