iPhone Photography Awards 2013

Can I ask how much Photoshop has gone in those images? Not that I mind just asking? great photos

I think the rule is that they are raw images without post processing.

You can ask but it's all on their website...

"All images must be taken with an iPhone or an iTouch. The photos should not be altered in PhotoShop or any desktop image processing program.

The use of any iPhone Apps such as Hipstamatic, CameraBag, etc. are permissible. In some cases we may ask the original image to verify that it’s taken with an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch."

So basically any iPhone post processing app I'd fine.

Ahh then I am proud to say, just shows u what can be done with a cellphone camera.

I meant raw not RAW if you know what I mean.

:)
Actually you were right the first time - its not an acronym so it's just raw… I think a better term for what you meant is unedited

Some of the apps available on iPhones easily rivals photoshop on a PC. I wonder if Photoshop Touch is allowed?

Unedited would imply that there are two versions of a file, one edited and one unedited.

I simply implied a raw file straight from the camera. I never stated in a raw format, which would be the filetype as you have referred to it.

Even if you used a film camera you would refer to the raw photo as the original version, same applies to digital. The capture in raw format is the same thing but also implies the format.

Unedited implies that it not been edited.

In the photography world if you say raw 9/10 photographers will think you're talking about this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raw_image_format

Anyway I don't want go further into these semantics.

I always think of this ( still way noob) when is a photo good when A) it comes out almost perfect from the camera or B) when done editing it and it looks like shot with the deep blue eyes.

There is no way that the last photo posted in your post will come out looking like that from a photo. Am I wrong to say that? Yes I agree the photo looks stunning but if you took the unedited one vs the RAW one. There will be big difference and that photo might have never ended up there.

Its not that I am moaning about software and editing its just when is it a good photo and when is it a good edited photo..

At least one of us is confused here…

my bad that would be me ....... I mean the edited one vs the unedited one :D
It's hard to say how much tweaking went into that last photo. I remember a couple years back some photographer did a fashion shoot with the iPhone, using hot lights, but afterwards an editor did a whole lot of post processing.

so is Nokia going to do something like this soon?

They say on the site that they aren't affiliated with Apple so wouldn't it be up to a nokia enthusiast to organise it?
