Hi
I had this issue on my previous iPhone 4 for about 3 years as well as my current iphone 6 since I got it in January. It would randomly, perhaps once a week or once every 2 weeks, lose signal. I usualy do not notice it until I realise I have not recieved any calls or SMS'es for a while, or when I try to make a call. When this happens, 3G or 4G data, whatsapp etc still works, but signal strength show zero dots and I cant make or receive any calls or SMS'es. The only way to fix is a reboot.
Does anyone else have this issue?

Both mine and my wife's started doing this somewhere around the iOS 9 update I reset the network settings, and while they still do it, it's not as often

Same here, but on iOS 8 I had the same issue, it just showed No Service instead of empty dots. My conclusion os that I need to set it to 2G when I'm home, because my 3G signal is weak and undeliable. On 2G it's stable and full signal.
