Hi Everyone,

Perhaps someone can help me. I need to find out how to go about saving sms messages or conversations as well as to find out if the iPhone has the ability to send delivery reports like the Nokia phones do.

I would really appreciate any assistance I can get.

Thanks
Melanie

Solutions!!

Ok, so we found some apps to help forward sms's delete single sms's and save and store sms's. They are

Smsd
WeTool
We-iSMS

I have an unlocked phone running software 2.1 updated it on Saturday after I bought the phone.

Can anyone assist me in installing these apps correctly as I have no idea where to start or even how to get them onto the iPhone!

Thanks

To use Cydia you'll need to jailbreak your iPhone and to download Apps from the Appstore click on the link in my sig.

Thanks everyone :) I have got swirlymms as well.

How do I "jailbreak" my phone?

Once i have done that, how do I install the apps that I have downloaded off the net and install them on my phone?

Questions...

Thanks Aqua.

I'm new to all this hacking, cracking stuff, what are the pros and cons of jailbreaking your phone?

Does it affect your warranty in any way?

Pros= Install applications that allow you to do stuff that Apple won't approve yet, theme your iPhone etc.

It may affect your warranty but just do a restore using iTunes and your iPhone will be new again then you can send it away if necessary.

Hi Melanie

Welcome to the forum, for any technical and other related queries use the Tip/Tricks/Apps thread.

Those apps you mentioned above don't exist anymore on firmware 2.1. They were from the 1.1.x days.. Lovely apps, especially weTool - pity they still haven't been ported.

Here is a detailed guide on how to jailbreak your iPhone with the QuickPwn software using Windows and 3G device - VERY SIMPLE, so don't be nervous :)

Make sure you have iTunes 8 and the original firmware file from Apple. You can get this by updating in iTunes or downloading the file.

If you ever want to go back to an non-jailbroken phone, simply restore your iPhone in iTunes and it will restore an original firmware without any jailbreak.

No delivery reports, and i'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by saving messages and conversations...

Once you have jailbroken your iPhone, there is an app called Cydia. Open that, update all the necessary updates and look for an app called biteSMS.

This app allows you to forward SMSs and delete individual ones.

In Cydia, you will also find an app called SwirlyMMS - this allows you to send/receive MMS...

Don't hesitate asking for any help :)
