Hi,

So a family member is getting me an unlocked iPhone 5 from the US.

I'm currently a pre-paid blackberry user, but now I am looking for something suitable for the iPhone. Data bundles are insanely priced across all networks from what I've seen. And from what I can tell, you cant put a one data contract and one voice contract on the same sim card.

From what I can tell, my best option is from cell c.
A straight up 30 contract (I dont need more minutes than that) with an extra 500 megs is R125. More data would be preferable, but I'd like to try keep it under R150/month.

Anyone else have some other suggestions?

The straight up 30 with +500MB data is R105.

If you want to stick with prepaid, it will cost you the same, without the 30 SMSs though.

If pre-paid works out to roughly the same amount, I would prefer it.
I was just thinking, if I get the 12 gig for R999 deal, does the 99c per minute voice rate still apply?

That is a good idea. I'm not sure if the 99c rate applies; you will need to speak to a cell c rep.

From what I've now read on a couple other threads, it doesnt seem possible, as the bundles are preloaded onto simcards which arent micro sims, and I'm guessing wouldn't be enabled for voice anyway. I'll still try find out though.

Another option, is to sign up for a R99 contract for 2 gigs, and voice calls are then R1.50 per minute. At the moment, this seems to be the best option.
