ok, now i know that these phones are not exactly directly competing for the same market share, but my contract is soon up for renewal. im considering each of the phones above, bearing in mind thats more or less in decreasing order of overall cost.

any yay's or nay's either way ? the E71 does seem to offer the best value for money, but i really dig the screen size on iphone/storm. anybody got one ? thoughts ?

apparently the BOLD is significantly better than the storm, despite the latter being a newer model. is this true ?

I guess it depends what you do most of on the phone. I've had three Nokia's in a row and I've loved them - I've also loved their cameras but this time I went through the sme thing as I and I've chosen the Bold. I need to have email access- easy and qucik and also web access - the camera isn't that great but it is ok. I'm still learning to get comfortable with it but I know the Bold is going to become VERY useful to me.

the 2 main things i need it for are :

1) surfing the net
2) checking my GMAIL

i am leaning towards either the iphone or the storm coz of the big screen. have read some less than flattering things about the storm tho. apparently the bold is better

I got the iphone and never been more impressed with a phone...

Excellent for surfing the web, safari is extremely quick and easy to use.

Mail application on the phone is also great, easy to configure and a joy to use.

Would probably come down to self preference at the end.

Not sure if you can get the iPhone anymore through Vodacom as there is a new one being released soon.

I heard that they might receive stock of the white iPhone 3G in 2 weeks.

I agree with Bravestar above - Safari on the phone is awesome!

I have 3 GMail accounts and the Mail.app is a pleasure to use.

New OS will be released next month - so definitely worth getting!

I've got the iPhone and the Curve and even though Safari on the iphone is superb the r59 unlimited internet access on the blackberry's makes for a very compelling argument.

im leaning now very heavily towards the iphone

@limnos : i have 2 primary gmail accounts. does the iphone have some app (either standard or downloaded) that can help me check/maintain both accounts easily ?

my phone is a write off, so i get a new one. witch is better for business purposes, the E71, curve or the bold. i like the bold o curve, what is a nice corporate phone to keep the up and coming executive connected.

The BIS dataplan on Blackberry makes it the clear winner imo. A device like this is only as good as the total package it comes with ... i.e. how much it can do (be used) without escalating costs becoming a limitation/burden. Blackberry got it right and growing sales will prove this.

Agree

Personal preference at the end of the day...

If you want a fugly phone with a data plan get the blackberry...

If you want class and a sexy phone get the iphone... :)

Jokes, all these phones are awesome the best would be to get hold of the actual phones and play around a bit, that's the only why you would ever decide.

i checked out somebodies E71 yesterday, and the build quality is awesome and fone feels excellent in the hand...but the screen is WAAAY too small :-(

i reckon its gonna be the iphone. anybody know of any specials going on with the iphone ? methinks not, given the huge demand :(

Yeah, I agree, I had a e71 for a few weeks - screen is really samll and low-res... Swopped it for a Bold!

End of the year you're going to see a lot of Palm Pre wannabe phones - big screens with sliding keyboards - best of both worlds!

Who'd win between an iPhone4G, Storm2, Pre or E72 if all of them has sliding keyboards?

If i didn't love my Storm so much, Id be using an E71 or Bold
Whats more, they can send mms and stuff :P

And the "Storm2" isn't going to happen, in that form anyway. Id be disgusted if BB ever made an ugly touch screen phone which also has a sliding keyboard.
