If i were to buy a new iphone if my current one is 7 should i get the 8 or consider the x?

I would consider the X, the 8 doesn't have much extra compared to the 7 except for wireless charging.

You should learn to make your own decisions in life...that's what you should do.

The X is EOL btw.

What utter nonsense.

Apple supports their products for 5 years after they stop production. So even if it's at End of Sale (which it isn't) it will only become End of Life in 2023 or so.

Not even the iPhone 4S is EOL yet.

Why not wait for the new ones, end of the year? That is what I am doing. My iPhone 7 + will be fine until then.

Aren't they announcing some now soon? Thought for some reason they were.

Anyway, I thought the X would be very limited and kinda "iconic" but doesn't seem to be that at all. Though I get that the 8 is just the with wireless charging. Sigh. I still have my 6+, aside from the battery thing, it is okay and functioning fine, even if it is on MTN. :)

Agh, will also hold on till they bring out something new, though now it's probably going to be a R40 000 phone.

Apparently an iPhone X plus is coming, dont be a fool and wait a few months

So many misconceptions.. I hope this will help:

Apple won't be introducing any new phones soon. Apple introduces their new phones mid/end September, like clockwork.
You may be thinking of WWDC, which is the developers' conference, which is early June. They sometimes announce hardware there, but the likelihood of that is pretty low. The reasoning is that Apple hold the developers' conference in June, and releases the Dev Betas of the new iOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS, which prepares developers for new stuff that would come with the new hardware. Then they announce the new hardware in September.

The 8 is most definitely not the 7 just with wireless charging. It's more like the X without the OLED screen. The 8 (especially the 8+) contains pretty much everything the X does except FaceID and OLED. It even has the much improved SoC. Even if you have a 7, you'll see some improvements. If you have a 6+, the 8+ will be a huge jump.

The next phone, whatever it's called, will likely continue the X line in some factor, and either an 8S variant or a 9. Prices are not likely to be lower, though, as we've shown Apple that the market will gladly accept even more expensive phones.

Hope this clarified some of the misconceptions.

Pure speculation. There's no proof of this until the actual reveal in September. But it does seem likely based on the supply chain leaks that there will be more OLED screen-based phones coming. An X+ would be a strange best though, as it will be unusually tall (based one the screen aspect ratio of the X)
