Have to agree. In hindsight, JP should have come in at first wicket down. That or KP should have gone a lot harder. If he gave his wicket away in the process, he had the safety net of the solid JP coming to the crease next.

Hopefully DD et al will learn from this.

100% correct. Gary Kirsten, Eric Simons and Rob Walters (Saffers they are) are part of the coaching team. On the flip side Kirsten was experimenting a fair amount with batting line ups especially in the shorter format. For DD it is a pity they did not think out the box a bit in this game.
