Hi All - i have searched for this topic on the forum, got this below

But my question is basically the same - also want to move from DSTV
is IPTV any good?
do they show all the regular programs / series?
any other streaming you can recommend?

they don't list their channels... so cant really compare - I would love the AUZ, NZ and UK rugby and cricket of course :)
movies?

Gave up on IPTV, jeez so many nonsense channels, one's you want to watch are 720p, buffering during busy hours, adverts and more adverts.

Went with Smartdns on aptv4, just install all the Oz, NZ, CA, UK free channels apps from their respective stores.

A lot depends on the broadband connection you have at home. Some providers are better than others. Some devices are better than others. Some wifi are better than others. Your mileage may vary, so it takes some setting up in the beginning and testing out different options. Its not plug and play, unless you get lucky.

IPTV is nice to have, a lot to watch. Unfortunately, no matter your type of Internet connection, no matter where you are in the world, expect a lot of buffering, and at times you will not be able to stream at all.

I have tested locally on fibre 50MB, 100MB and 1GB lines. It buffers during busy hours and at times so bad you cannot watch at all on any of these Fibre lines.

I have been in the US and experienced the same buffering in busy hours in New York, and other states too.

Another disadvantage of IPTV in SA is that you are about 6-9 hours behind the US. If you want to watch their prime time channels at night, you will have to do so at 3, 4 or 5 in the morning. Unfortunately, watching UK or European channels at night is very difficult, as they fall in busy hours and buffers way too much.

Tried a service for the last month, live TV works fine, VoD buffers on my 40mbps VDSL line. Watching Sport at 1080p 50 FPS is awesome.

Seriously considering taking another month. Tho wondering if I should test some other services.

Or just get a different service for VoD.

Like @cenredash said not all services are plug n play. You need to shop for what works for you and your internet speed

Not necessarily. Most of the IPTV service providers' channels are overcrowded and you will experiencing buffering and certain times of unwatchable TV whether you have the fastest internet line or not. Buffering and quality are all part and parcel of IPTV services. Some are just worse than others.

To be honest im not sure if the channels are over crowded or not but I got a 25/25 fibre line and watch IPTV with no issues. I did however go through a couple a IPTV services to find one that suites me.

You should actually pop me a message if you found one that workd 24/7 without any buffering. I too have gone through about 7 of them. I am with a better one now, but still between around 18:00 to 21:00 at night, I cannot watch any of their channels.

This may be your experience but like I said, everyone's experience differs. I have a 25Mb line and I have had to do some legwork regarding ISP, Apps, and Service Providers, but my overall experience is very positive. It may also be that the only content I really use it for is sport, which is usually the most common reason people choose IPTV services, and I have some redundancy, but again, i experience very little buffering.

Been using an IPTV service for about two years now. The whole point for me is F1, MotoGP, WSBK, the Premier League, the Champions League and Rugby. Everything else is a bonus and there's a lot of bonus...

Costs me R160 a month and I'd happily pay that just for the sports I mentioned.

For me, the IPTV service, as well as a SmartDNS to bypass the geo blocking from Netflix and co is about as good as you can get.

Watching the second champions league game full HD, 50fps. No buffering. Definitely worth it for me.

Can you send to me too pls?
I discovered IPTV about 2 months ago. Set it up, got some nice channels added to my Favourites, etc. Took me about a week on finding the right bouquet of channels. Got to enjoy that for about a week, then boom, had to clear the cache for Netflix and lost all my saved channels. Really dont lus to go through all that again.

EDIT: Removed provider name, seems to be illegal to note based on post above

I'll hint: Its the logical abbreviation amd and then the word for where livestock lives, note to look for for the co.za domain when googling
