Twice this month I've noticed outgoing traffic logged in my firewall (ZA 10). The attempts blocked going from my PC to IP address 192.88.99.1:0 and listed under IP Protocol 41. I looked up all this information online and it was something linked to IPv4 to IPv6. I haven't seen this sort of thing before, but apparently it seems to be bundled with Vista and Windows 7. I'm running on Vista SP2 and I've read that it can be disabled. Some even recommend you do so seeing as it can cause network issues. Any help?

IPv6 is the next generation protocol that we are busy migrating to on the Internet. May people are already making use of it and on the 6th of June there is a big IPv6 switch on planned for sites like Google and Facebook.

What you are seeing is your computer trying connect to an IPv6 server using a 6to4 tunnel due to the fact that you don't have native IPv6 from your ISP.

You definitely shouldn't be blocking this traffic. More and more sites are going to be IPv6 only in the coming months and you don't want to be left behind.

That makes complete sense seeing as I usually get these logs when on Facebook. I'm running with Cell C as my ISP, but I may switch to 8ta soon. So should I put this IP address in my allowed zones in my firewall setup soon you think? Otherwise I won't be able to use services from Google and Facebook I would assume?
