Ok, so IPv6 has been around for a while. We all know that there are not any IPv4 address left to be assigned. So why is South Africa so far behind the rest of the world with deploying IPv6? Most devices and operating systems does support IPv6. As far as I know no ISP has deployed IPv6 to its users yet. Not even Neotel who is control of their entire network from their POP to the user has deployed IPv6.

What is the deal? Why is it taking so long?

AS you can see we are far behind the rest of the "1st World Countries". I mean we are not that third world.
http://www.google.com/ipv6/statistics.html#tab=per-country-ipv6-adoption

iBurpts say they have, don't think so though, although I have noticed Mweb already supports IPv6... If you do a NS lookup on Mweb you will see IPv6 responses, I personally have not seen any other network respond to NS lookups with IPv6 besides Mweb......

I stand to be corrected.....

Are you accessing over ADSL? I just saw this article that said this about Telkom. "According to one ISP executive IP Connect has various shortcomings and restrictions, including a lack of support for IPv6."

So if you are accessing over ADSL are you running a tunnel?

http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/71556-telkoms-adsl-bitstream-snub.html

since all internet service providers are at the mercy of telkom/saix when it comes to assignment of ip addresses for their dsl users, those that are v6 ready have no choice but to look at other options such as tunneling to get the packets out there.

i am using a tunnel to overcome telkom/saix/vodacom/mtn/cellc's short-comings re ipv6.
