Looking at this article there seem to be some serious brakes in the bandwidth we're getting. Cost is an issue, too - $30/m in Hawai with 300 kbps and 400 kbps downloads.

I have an inferiority complex. But it's only a little one.

I think thats what the 3Ghz system they will offer later here will give as a base

Sentech's 3.5Ghz offering is based on technology from Cambridge Broadband, not IPW.

Ok

But I would love to know how exactly they limit our speeds, because the technlogy is supposed to support up to
3Mbs

The key word is "up" to 3Mb.
The service provider gets to set whatever limit they like.
Providing the full 3Mb is not realistic in bandwidth starved SA anyway.
Other IPW customers don't seem to be using the full 3Mb either!

I'm also not too sure how capable some of us are of seeing the 3Mb, same way 802.11 delivers speeds of 54Mbps, thats are only attainable in the best conditions. I think mywireless attenuates in the same way, performance degrades exponentially, as your signal decreases.
