Iran protesters break into UK embassy in Tehran

Protesters in the Iranian capital, Tehran, have broken into the UK embassy compound during an anti-British demonstration, reports say.

Militant students are said to have removed the British flag, burnt it and replaced it with the Iranian flag.

They were also shown live on Iranian state TV throwing stones at embassy windows and breaking them.

The move comes after Iran resolved to reduce ties following the UK's decision to impose further sanctions on it.

The students clashed with anti-riot police and chanted "the embassy of Britain should be taken over" and "death to England", AP reports.

One protester was reported to be waving a framed picture of Queen Elizabeth II.

On Sunday, Iran's parliament voted by a large majority to downgrade diplomatic relations with the UK after the UK Treasury imposed sanctions on Iranian banks the previous week, accusing them of facilitating the country's nuclear programme.

Iran says its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes only.

Good job to the Iran people. Get rid of those parasites that are after your oil and resources, close down the UK Embassy and turn it into a Chinese restaurant, they will really be mad then.

Then, the 2010–2011 Arab world protests spread across the Middle East and North Africa. After the ousting of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in Tunisia on 14 January 2011, millions of people began demonstrating across the region in a broad movement aimed at various issues such as their standards of living or influencing significant reforms, with varying degrees of success. With the successful ousting of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on 11 February 2011 following that of President Ben Ali of Tunisia, renewed protests began in Iran.

On 27 January, the opposition Green Movement of Iran announced a series of protests against the Iranian government scheduled to take place prior to the "Revolution Day" march on 11 February.[9]

On 9 February, various opposition groups in Iran sent a letter to the Ministry of Interior requesting permission to protest under the control of the Iranian police. Permission was refused by the relevant government officials.[10] Despite these setbacks and crackdowns on activists and members of opposition parties, opposition leaders such as Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi, called for protests.[11][12]

Show me where (I) said death to english people. Some, check out what some people means bud :D. It might enlighten you.

They would not have to protest against the west if the west stopped causing trouble. You keep blaming them for hating the west but you never seem to put down the possible reasons. I wonder would they have attacked the embassy if they never got sanctioned for having a nuclear power plant? I don't think any western country has been sanctioned for nuclear power so the double standard is shocking.

What does that have to do with Iran people? Does it state what percentage of these Muslims are from Iran? Does it state what percentage of these people are costing the UK Government money?

Face it, the UK are parasites in the Iran, that is why they want them gone. No one likes parasites, right?

They need to cut off any remaining imports into the UK.

LOL yea that is one major negative for iran :D. Gotta give a shout out to the west for allowing porn, alcohol, legal and illegal drugs. We sure do live wild and free. Alan i have no issue with the western world, my issue is with the western powers. iran is certainly not a place i would like to live but that does not mean for one second that i will consider changing my point of view, if the US went and liberated the bahrain shytes and removed mugabe then i would shake pom poms and be one of their biggest fans. Until then they only do what is best for them and they don't care about the people.

It's pretty clear what you said. Just like a person swept up in the moment, when a crowd goes wild. They screamed "Death to England/Britain" and you howled "Rise up against the west!!!!! Good to see this actually, nice to see people standing up for what they believe in.".

Oh, I see, the "West" is causing "trouble" is it? By it's sanctions against the nutcase regime threatening to destroy Israel, working at creating nuclear weapons and now threatening to attack US interests in a neighboring country, Turkey, also..? WTFU.

Britain cut all financial ties with Iran last week over concerns about Iran's nuclear program, the first time it has cut an entire country's banking sector off from British finance, the British Treasury announced.

Last week, all British credit and financial institutions were ordered to end their business relationships and transactions with all Iranian banks, their branches and subsidiaries by Monday.

The move came after an International Atomic Energy Agency report highlighted new concerns about "the possible military dimensions of Iran's nuclear program," the Treasury statement said Monday.

"The IAEA's report last week provided further credible and detailed evidence about the possible military dimensions of the Iranian nuclear program," Hague said in a statement last Monday. "Today we have responded resolutely by introducing a set of new sanctions that prohibit all business with Iranian banks."

You realize the US threatened them as did israel, you happily leave out that fact, they are not the aggressors here, they are responding to threats. Very convenient of you to leave out the threats from israel which came first. So as usual the double standard is shocking, why didn't you get upset when israel threatened them? Biased you are son.
