Yes, saw it earlier on. Looks good!! I think will fall quite fast though as the European season is starting now and there is a couple of matches this coming weekend. Not too sure if the top ranked teams are playing but according to the IRB article I've read, it might change...

Can't believe Argentina is ahead of England. Interesting :)

I can blieve it! They played better rugby than Eng in the tournament which resulted
in bigger winning margins than that of England. The fact that they won 2 more games than Eng also helped alot. I think they deserve their place in the rankings!

England lost twice this World Cup and Argentine once in Semi Final. So they won one more game than England. England also made it through to the Final and Argentina not. England beated Australia and France. The best team Argentina beated was France.
Do you actually know how thay calculate these points?

Wouldn't this be the national team rating, rather than any club stuff?

To the guy who wanted to know why England weren't higher, it's a composite rating over the last couple of years. England managed to pull themselves together for a couple of games but they've been consistently rubbish almost since 2004. The only reason they're that high in the 1st place is because they reached the final.

Points Scored in the tournament,

New Zealand 184
Wales 134
South Africa 125
France 124
Australia 123
Argentina 108
Scotland 98
England 72
Italy 69
Tonga 69
Fiji 64
Japan 52
Ireland 49
Samoa 44
Canada 33
Namibia 30

OK fair enough. But if it is taken from 2004 upwards, please have a look at the BOKS consistency. Does anybody out there actually knows how these points are allocated? I would really like to know.

But 103 of those points was scored in one match... Can't compare scoring in the tournament because the quality of teams in the groups varied greatly.

You are wrong. Go to the IRB website and read up on how these points are accumalated. This point system is fool proof and cannot be forged. If the rankings says a team is nr. 1, then they really are the number 1 team in the world.

That game where NZ beat Georgia by 100 point didn't really count as much towards their rankings, and for obvious reasons the system was developed like that...

One thing that needs to be kept in mind though is that South Africa is the first country to top the rankings after NZ topped it 40 months ago. 3 years to be on top of that list is a real achievement!!!

Argentina however beat France twice, England lost twice to SA
France beat the AB once and then England beat France once...

Complicated if you look at it is it not?
Eng-Aus
Arg-Fr-AB
Eng-Fr-AB
SA-En-Fr-AB
Since Argentina beat France twice it will be correct push Arg in between
En and Fr leaving us with the following:
SA-EN-AR-FR-AB
