I got my new PC and all is well...except the IRQs. I'm getting mad conflicts that make UT2004 unplayable.

I checked the IRQs and sure enough *everything* of significance is piled onto 4 IRQs while the unused ps/2 and COM ports have one to themselves each.:(

The applicable options in the device manager are all greyed out. So how do I changes them?

Also, are there any hidden IRQs, i.e. numbers that are used by the system internally but are not displayed in the device manager.

ETA: Is there a way to figure out into which of the billion USB controllers the cordless desktop is plugged in.
ETA2: The PnP option in the BIOS seems to have something to do with this, but I'm not quite sure what.

Thanks

Hmm, I suppose your right, its probably not really a conflict per se. I know they are supposed to share IRQs, but not like this. In UT the keyboard+mouse combo cuts out every few seconds, sound distorts when I do something intensive in windows etc.

Found the list of IRQs at Device manager==>View==>By Connection

Screenshot of the problem.

I should have checked them on my previous PC too 'cause they obviously have a bigger performance impact than I though.:o

Specs:E6550, P5K, 3850, MX3200 Logitech desktop, HDDs on PATA

Don't the chipset properties share interrupts? Is it the device manager that's telling you there's a IRQ conflict? Are you running the right drivers?

I think I've found the problem. I haven't yet formatted since I got the new hardware.

This suggests that most of the IRQ stuff is configured at install time and can't really be changed afterwards.

I'll format later and report back.:)
