After long time with other modems and a Telkom 5102G ADSL I got problems with it and purchased a Billion BiPAC 7300 RA Router.

Some VERY irritating feature is however that EVERY time I open/reopen the browser I have to wait a while for the Detect Network Settings message.

Anyone perhaps know what I can do regarding this?

(With all previous modems it only need to detect network settings once (sometimes visible but mostly just in background) after booted the computer but as said with this modem it visible detect network settings each time I open/reopen the browser)

Have to wait between 15 to 30 seconds EACH time I open the browser is irritating like hell to say the very least.

what happens if you go into the Billion router and TURN OFF the UPnP option?

Are you using Internet Explorer? Sounds like it.

Click Tools>Internet Options> Connections>LAN settings and remove the tickbox at the top which says "Automatically detect settings".

Close Internet Explorer and Try again.

You can get to Internet Options in Control Panel as well as in IE.

If you are using Firefox, just click NO Proxy in Options>Advanced>Network> Settings

Ciao

The following advice from teraside did the trick thanks.

(The UPnP function was turned off by default Garyvdh)

On a side note:

One GOOD thing about Hellkom is that it enabled a lot of people to go back to old-age values such as helping and supporting each other such as on this forum.

A pity that the same positive, counter-reaction cannot also start with similar bad things such as crime, poor service etc.
