This morning I found that my car had been broken into. Wanted the window fixed asap, I checked which companies offer 24/7 repairs. Of the 4 companies which I called, none could do it, but each wanted to book my car in for a replacement tomorrow.

Has anyone had a window replaced on a Sunday, or is this a ploy to gain business? On Monday everyone is open, so I'm wondering if these call centres are just designed to lock you into that specific company.

If insured through a honorable insurer work through them or your broker.
Side windows are hellish expensive and not easily available in most cases.
It'll not affect your CFG or NCB but you'll pay a excess.
If through someone like withoutinsurance you on your own.

The window will cost about R400 to replace, so it isn't worth claiming for me. I was just pissed that these companies offer a 24/7 service, but are only interested in getting me booked in for a Monday replacement.

Even calling their call centres is a waste of time - they don't actually do anything or despatch anyone all they do is pass your details onto their local franchise holder. I remember calling all of them one after the other and IIRC it was Glassfit and one other crowd who had exactly the same call routing system, the same voice, the same options, all identical, which seemed pretty dodgy to me at the time.

They also offer to come to you and do it while you're at work too - until they find out where you are and then suddenly they'll call you back when they have enough work booked in your area to make the trip worth their while.
